The Double Breasted Suit

Has made its way back into the world of men’s fashion. It’s no longer just the go-to uniform for business and military men, but is a favourite amongst celebrities, style-conoisserues and everyday city dwellers that enjoy making bold statements. For maximum wearability, invest in a navy double-breasted suit for the upcoming fall season!

“This is the classic power-look for business men. Vintage inspired, but made contemporary with accessories.” – M.Z.

How would M.Z. wear it?
1) Red and white striped shirt.
2) Blue paisley tie.
3) Brown suede lace-ups.

Garrison Bespoke stylist, M.Z., loves the navy double-breasted suit for it’s versatility. It’s the perfect suit for a guy that works hard during the week, but likes a good night out in the city on the weekend. On a Monday, wear a three-piece double-breasted suit with a striped shirt and dark tie to impress the boss (chances are, not a lot of guys on your floor will be wearing the same suit!). On a Friday night, ditch the trousers and tie, and put the jacket over a pair of your favourite coloured chinos or dark jeans for a more relaxed look.

Johannes Huebl mixes his navy double-breasted blazer with a pair of striped grey trousers and a jean jacket, adding a casual character to an otherwise formal look. If you’re more of a creative guy, have a little fun with the details and incorporate brown horn buttons when designing your own double-breasted blazer.

The double-breasted jacket is great for taller, slim men that can sacrifice a bit of height. For shorter men, be sure to get your double-breasted jacket tailored to your body in order to create shape in the waist. Don’t forget to wear the jacket with the bottom button undone, like men’s style expert, Adam Kelly, for that “nonchalant” look.

Get creative and add a pop of colour to the look with a paisley or quilted tie. Don’t be afraid to mix pattern on pattern, like actor, Christ Pine, since most of the attention will be on the boldness of your peak-lapalled chest, anyhow.
